Before You Hire
Most Lexington homeowners get two or three quotes before replacing their windows. The prices can look similar on paper, but the companies behind them often work very differently.
The biggest differences are who actually installs the windows, how they install them, and what happens if something goes wrong after the crew leaves. A low quote from a company that sends out a different subcontractor every job can cost more in the long run.
At Windows Plus, the people who measure your home, build your order, and install your windows all work for us. Our own crews do full-frame replacement only, and every job is backed by a lifetime transferable warranty on qualifying products.

Window Styles
The most common style in Lexington homes. Both sashes open and tilt in for easy cleaning.
Cranks open for full ventilation and seals tight when closed — great for hard-to-reach spots.
Glides side to side on a track. A good fit for wide, short openings and basements.
Fixed glass with no moving parts for maximum light and an unobstructed view.
Hinged at the top so you can vent your home even during a light rain.
Projecting multi-window units that add space, light, and curb appeal to a room.
Lexington Homes
What fails first, and what we recommend, depends on when your home was built.
Downtown, Chevy Chase, Ashland Park
Original wood windows are often rotted at the sill, painted shut, or missing weights and cords. Full-frame replacement lets us find and repair rotted framing before the new window goes in. Homes in an H-1 historic overlay district need a Certificate of Appropriateness from the city before exterior window changes, so we check your address first.
Southland, Gardenside, Meadowthorpe
Many still have single-pane or early aluminum windows. Aluminum frames carry cold straight through, so they sweat, frost, and drip in a Lexington winter. Insulated, double-pane replacements stop the condensation and the drafts.
Hamburg, Beaumont, Masterson Station
Builder-grade vinyl from this era is now 20+ years old. Look for fogged glass between the panes (a failed seal), sashes that won't stay up, and cracked or yellowed frames. Those windows can't be fixed economically; they need replacing.
Not sure if your home is in a historic district? Check the city's H-1 overlay district map, or just ask at your estimate.
Hiring Checklist
Ask whether the installers are the company's own employees or subcontractors. Employees are trained on the company's process and accountable to it.
Full-frame replacement removes the old window down to the opening so hidden rot or water damage gets found and fixed, not covered up.
Get an itemized quote in writing that includes removal, installation, trim, and cleanup, with no surprise charges on install day.
Find out what the warranty covers, whether it includes labor, and whether it transfers to the next owner if you sell.
Read recent Google reviews and look for mentions of crews by name, on-time arrival, and how the house was left.
If you plan to finance, ask for the rate, the term, and what happens if a promotional period ends before you pay it off.
How We Compare
The three most common ways Lexington homeowners buy replacement windows, and what to expect from each.
Sold in-store, installed by a hired contractor
You buy from the store, but the install is usually handed to an outside contractor. Scheduling, measuring, and warranty questions can pass between several parties, so it is not always clear who owns a problem.
One company sells, another installs
Many window companies sell the job and then hire whichever subcontracted crew is available. Quality depends on who shows up that day, and the salesperson may never see the finished work.
One company from estimate to warranty
We measure, order, and install with our own in-house crews, do full-frame replacement only, and stand behind the work with a lifetime transferable warranty on qualifying products. One company, one phone number.

“I am so glad I went with local professionals. I haven’t seen this kind of craftsmanship in decades. They had to replace all eight windows in my home, a condo on the second floor, in 90° heat. They didn’t miss a beat.”
Karin W. · Google review

“The difference has been night and day! … all the rooms are drastically cooler. … The whole house feels tighter and sound dampening was unexpected.”

Recent Projects
A few recent jobs from our crews around the Bluegrass.
Before
After
Georgetown, KY
Large front windows let so much sun through that the dining room ran noticeably hotter than the rest of the house. We replaced them with energy-efficient glass that blocks solar heat but keeps the light, and removed the old grids for a clearer view. The temperature swings are gone.
Before
After
Richmond, KY
The original wood windows had rot, moisture damage, and peeling paint, and the house was drafty with high energy bills. We removed them and installed new energy-efficient windows with low-maintenance frames that won't rot or need repainting.

Berea, KY
An avid birdwatcher wanted a better view of the backyard feeders. We replaced two old, drafty double-hung windows with one large energy-efficient picture window, cutting drafts and opening up a wide, clear view.

Lexington Window Company FAQ
How do I choose a window company in Lexington?
Compare who installs the windows (employees or subcontractors), how they install them (full-frame or insert), what is in the written quote, what the warranty covers and whether it transfers, and what recent local Google reviews say about the crews.
Are your installers employees or subcontractors?
Employees. Every Windows Plus window is installed by our own in-house, factory-trained crews. We do not hand jobs off to subcontractors.
What warranty does Windows Plus offer?
Qualifying products are covered by a lifetime warranty that transfers to the next owner if you sell your home. Your estimator will walk through exactly what is covered for your project.
How long does window replacement take?
Most Lexington homes are finished in a single day. Each window typically takes our crew about 30–45 minutes to remove, install, insulate, seal, and trim out.
Do you really serve Lexington if you're based in Louisville?
Yes. Windows Plus is a family-owned company headquartered in Louisville, and our own in-house crews install windows throughout Lexington, Fayette County, and nearby Bluegrass communities like Georgetown, Nicholasville, and Versailles.
How much does window replacement cost in Lexington?
It depends on how many windows you replace, the style and size of each opening, the frame and glass package, and the condition of your existing frames. We measure every opening at a free in-home estimate and leave a written price that holds. See our window replacement cost guide for what drives the price.
